Prague 10. 2. 2026
It will be the sixteenth time in her career that Czech professional golfer Klára Davidson Spilková will stand on the first tee of the first tournament of the season. This time it’s in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. But everything was preceded by preparation, which Davidson Spilková completed in both Spain and the United States.
“Since the beginning of January, I have tried to make the most of every day – and I succeeded. In fact, since November, my coach and I have been working on small changes in my swing in Spain. This time, I had enough time for everything, so I was able to enjoy many days on the course. Even though the cold weather was not ideal for training, I have a good feeling about the entire pre-season preparation and I feel well prepared for the tournaments.”
European players are in for a tough but exciting start in Riyadh. The course, which has hosted a number of prestigious men’s tournaments in its short history, will welcome some of the world’s best players. There are only 120 places in the limited starting field, which have been reserved for players from not only the Ladies European Tour but also the US LPGA Tour.
“Getting into the first tournament in Saudi Arabia was not easy. Not only is it very well funded, but there are also a lot of LPGA Tour players in the limited starting field. Tournaments with high funding are not only for the tour, but also for women’s golf, a great opportunity to move our sport forward. Moreover, at least according to the current conditions and forecasts, the weather seems to be on our side. I am very happy to have made it into the starting field and that I will be able to play a tournament with great competition and under pressure again. I am really looking forward to it and I am grateful to be doing what I enjoy and to be starting my 16th professional season.”
If everything goes well, Davidson Spilková would like to complete the entire season on the Ladies European Tour. This year it will be really long and will most likely not end until the end of November. According to her, she plans to play over twenty tournaments with the main goal of playing everything with the same ease and joy as last year.
“My wish is to stay in the present moment during the season, enjoy the little things, improve my game and move on. To play as many tournaments as possible so that I feel comfortable, especially under pressure. I think that not only here in Riyadh, but also throughout the year, I can use my experience and knowledge. There have been some minor changes on the course over the past year, for example, a new water hazard has been added and the course looks better every year. Moreover, it is in great condition after the LIV Golf series tournament. It is almost a miracle to see so much greenery in the middle of the desert.”
