(Prague: July 2, 2025)

This week Czech professional Klára Davidson Spilková will play her last tournament before her planned summer break: the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, which will take place from Thursday July 3 to Sunday July 7, is one of her favorite tournaments. The four-round event will be held in Maynooth, County Kildare, on the Carton House course, just like last year. It was at the Irish Open that Davidson Spilková won her second victory on the Ladies European Tour circuit in 2022.

“Playing in countries and on courses that have a long golf history is always a special experience. Ireland is also one of those countries where people really love the sport and know how to support it. There are always a lot of spectators and the tournament has a great atmosphere throughout the week. The spectators here treat their Irish Open as a golf holiday. These are the reasons why I always love coming back to Ireland.”

The course, designed by American The Open and The Masters champion Mark O‘Meara, is located on the east coast of the Irish island covering an area of 1,100 hectares. It is almost six kilometers long and has a par of 73. It is one of the longest courses on which the European top league is played.

“Both Carton House courses are parkland and located in beautiful countryside near Dublin. They are strategic, with deep bunkers and well-protected greens. It has been raining here a lot recently, so everything is very green. The course is also in incredible condition. The technical holes are enclosed between trees, the longer ones are situated in open areas – it is a mix that should suit my game. I believe it will be a very nice Irish week.”

Davidson Spilková flew to Ireland with her husband Sean as her caddie on Sunday. Before that, she had a few days off after a home tournament.

“After the tournament in Beroun, I had a chance to gain some strength and think differently. Home tournaments tend to be long and demanding. Sometimes it’s good to take a break from tournament mode for at least a few days and catch up on the rest that I don’t have time for. Plus, when I’m back in Prague, I always have a lot of things to do, but now Sean and I are in Ireland and we are really looking forward to the whole tournament and the hospitable atmosphere here.”

In addition to Davidson Spilková, three other Czech players will also appear at the tournament: Krystýna Napoleaová, Tereza Melecká and Patricie Macková.
