A pair of tournaments marking the pinnacle of the first half of the season for me

It is said that all roads lead to Rome. And to Beroun. At least, this holds true for Czech professional golfer Klára Davidson Spilková. With these two tournaments, she will conclude the first half of this competitive season: the Ladies Italian Open at Golf Nazionale in Sutri, Italy, and a few days later the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open at Royal Golf Club Beroun. Davidson Spilková skipped the joint tournament of the Ladies European Tour and DP World Tour held last week in Helsingborg, dedicating her time to sponsorship events, training at her home course, PGA National, and a brief rest.

“After four tournaments in a row, I felt I needed a bit of rest, to adjust my game, and fulfil some sponsorship obligations and attend meetings with business partners. I also had an interview and a photoshoot for Vogue magazine and we are slowly starting to prepare for the Olympic tournament in Paris. This takes a lot of preparations, not just regarding travel and accommodation but also clothing and golf equipment, including a special bag design and shoes featuring the Czech flag and a small silhouette of the Eiffel Tower. Those few days flew by, but I managed to stick to the plan, including two days of rest, exercise, training and fine-tuning my game,” the professional described her tournament-free week.

The first of the two tournaments will take place from Friday, June 14 to Sunday, June 16 on the old-style course of Golf Nazionale situated in the mountains on the outskirts of Rome in Sutri.

“The place and the course are truly beautiful. It’s a pity we won’t have any time for even a short trip around or into the city. Sean, who flew in from Malaga to join me, and I managed to walk the first nine holes on Tuesday, and it’s gorgeous: a vintage, technical course with small greens surrounded by trees, with lots of ups and downs, all beautifully set in nature. Sean is also half Italian, so it was sort of a homecoming for him and a chance to practice his Italian once again. We both love coming back to Italy and were are very much looking forward to the tournament,” the player commented from Sutri.

Immediately after the competition, Davidson Spilková will head back to Prague to attend her duties as the main face of the home tournament in Beroun.

Besides Davidson Spilková, two other Czech players, Sára Kousková and Tereza Melecká, will also participate in the Ladies Italian Open in Rome.
