I end the 2024 season due to injury

In disappointing news for Czech golf, Klára Davidson Spilková, the country’s most experienced professional golfer, has decided to end her 2024 season early on the advice of her doctors. She has been struggling with complications in her right hip since the July tournament in the Netherlands, where she had to withdraw after the first round. The health issues persisted during the Summer Olympics in Paris and in subsequent events in Scotland and Ireland. With insufficient time to fully recover and the demanding tournament schedule, she has been forced to make the difficult decision to step away from competition for the remainder of the year.

“It was not an easy decision, and it is very sad news for me, but the persistent problems with my hip joint will not allow me to continue competing at my best this year. Since July, the injury has been limiting me from performing at the highest level. I have asked the Ladies European Tour for a medical exemption, and I believe that after fully healing I will be able to return to the tournament schedule. Recovery and rehabilitation will take several months, which I will now dedicate to my body. Fourteen years of professional golf have unfortunately started to take the toll on my health,” Davidson Spilková shared.

Though she will not participate in the remaining tournaments of the 2024 Ladies European Tour, Davidson Spilková plans to stay connected with Czech golf. If her condition allows it, the Czech athlete intends to engage in charitable activities and sponsorship obligations, in addition to focusing on healing and preparing for the next season.

“I would like to thank all my fans, partners, team and family for their incredible support, which I deeply appreciate. I hope everyone understands my difficult decision. There are situations that just come with professional sports, and it is important to accept them as they are. Now I will try my best and return to competitive golf as soon as possible,” the golfer concluded in a brief statement to the media.
